Southwest Austin Neighborhoods

In the 1970's, the City of Austin started construction to the Southwest and by 2003 the influx of people moving to Austin caused the expansion process to speed up significantly. Currently, the majority of the homes in the area were built after the year 2000. Brand new condos, apartment communities, modern custom-built homes and quality land lots are plentiful. Despite high demand, some of the most desirable open land lots are still available for now. Southwest Austin Schools

Austin Independent School District (AISD) serves the Central Austin region and currently has 84,500 students enrolled. AISD operate a total of 129 schools, including 84 elementary schools, 18 middle schools, and 16 high schools. AISD will automatically accept students that live geographically within the district that they serve and determine whether a student living outside the district may be eligible to attend due to special circumstances, specific talents or programs only provided by certain schools.

Southwest Austin has some of the city’s best prestigious private and religious schools like Primrose School of Shady Hollow for kindergarten-aged children, Bannockburn Christian Academy for elementary students, and Veritas Academy for all grade levels from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
