Central Austin Neighborhoods

To give you an idea of how much the Greater Austin Area has grown, in the year 2000 the population of Austin was about 675,000 and a mere twenty years later it has grown almost 42% to approximately 965,000. This explosive expansion makes it one of the fastest growing places in the country and has contributed greatly to the melting pot of cultures for diversity within the city.

Due to its proximity to downtown, the architecture you can find in the Central Austin area varies widely from quaint, rustic homes to sleek, modern condos.

Future home buyers are usually interested in West Campus, Hancock, Eastwood, Rose dale, N. Campus/Dean Keeton and Hyde Park to settle or invest in. Central Austin Lifestyle

Young people flock to this part of Austin so young professionals and families are usually seen strolling around the neighborhoods here and especially the central streets closer to the university.

Some beautifully manicured and safe recreation parks are close to the neighborhood, namely Mount Bonnell, Lady Bird Lake, Zilker, Mayfield and Ümlauf Sculpture garden. There are many other outdoor green spaces to explore as well as the Hill Country which offers many breathtaking vistas and attractions.

Bicycle lanes are everywhere in Austin so the city is very cyclist friendly in providing ease of transport.

Residents of the community can easily and quickly commute to work, their favorite coffee shop, a greenbelt or pretty much anywhere since the area is centrally located. All the amenities are within reach while people enjoy access to Austin's bountiful entertainment centers and natural sights.

Central Austin Schools

Serving the Central Austin area, Austin Independent School District (AISD) has about 84,500 students currently enrolled. The AISD includes 129 different schools with 16 high schools,18 middle schools, and 84 elementary schools. AISD will automatically accept students that live geographically within the district that they serve and determine whether a student living outside the district may be eligible to attend due to special circumstances, specific talents or programs only provided by certain schools.

There are some private and religious schools available as well that give parents the option of outstanding alternate education for their kids.
